Friday Funnies – Films

This Friday, a series of cat and other animal videos – mostly funny.

This first video is by Jim Hausman, who owns both the cat and the deer.  The deer is totally immobile, a trait found in the wild when confronted with danger.  You can see her sides rising and falling in breathing, but absolutely nothing else moves and the cat is very puzzled:

Who would ever guess that animals enjoy jumping on trampolines?  Though, neither the pig, cat or the buffalo  seem too pleased about it:

In the following video, I’m familiar with two of the sets of animals – first, the tortoise and the baby hippo: This was a few years ago, the baby hippo was rescued from along the beach in northern Kenya, taken to a zoo, where the tortoise befriended the baby hippo:

Then, the dog and the monkey – this is a zoo in Asia, can’t remember exactly where.  However, the orangutan was fractious and clearly lonely, until the dog entered the scene – apparently a stray – and they became friends:

Silly cats:

Which do you fear?  For me, it is heights:

This past Monday, with an old friend from Cairo (and from the University of Notre Dame, Sudan, and Kenya) days, we took a little safari up into the Rusizi Wetlands and River, which is just next to the Congo.

The following two pictures, taken during earlier land safaris into the area, show the lovely scenes of the area – which is just 20 minutes by boat or vehicle from where I live:

We saw several pods of hippos resting on the little islands in the Rusizi.

From the Rusizi Wetlands and river can be seen the lovely hills of the Congo. This picture was taken during the rainy season when the hills can be seen - now, during the height of the dry season, one cannot see them.

Have a lovely weekend!

Hi Diana, Love these Friday funnies. The hills of the Congo look very impressive. As here in Crete you can’t see them at this time of the year because of the heat haze.
