It’s That Time of the Year Again: Rice Harvesting and Processing

The rice harvesting season is now just about over here along Lake Tanganyika.  It is the number-one income earner for many families.  If possible, the rice is stored for a few months until the price increases.

Upcountry, the gov't and donor policies have focussed on draining swamps and planting rice. There are, however, some down sides to this strategy that I'll take up in another blog.
